Beyond Burnout: An Approach to Supporting Mental Health in Healthcare

Mental Health Wellness is aim on providing a gap in addressing the well -being of our healthcare staff. The urgent need to target mental health initiatives was prioritized to bring awareness and de-stigmatized . The "Mental Wellness Hour" includes the key components of mental wellness strategies.

 

Learning Objectives

  • Upon completion, participant will be able to identify key stressors and mental health challenges that healthcare professionals face, which the "Mental Wellness Hour" aims to address.
  • Upon completion, participant will be able to describe the structure and components of a mental wellness initiative, including activities and goals.
  • Upon completion participant will be able to discuss mental health initiatives' potential and actual impacts on the workplace environment and staff.
  • Upon completion participant will be able to evaluate the feasibility of implementing a similar wellness program in their healthcare setting, considering barriers and facilitators.

Golda Parillon serves as the Director of Nursing for Brooks Arizona West, a new partnership between Brooks Rehabilitation and Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona, opening at the end of 2026. A dedicated and forward‑thinking leader, Golda is known for her commitment to patient‑centered care, staff development, and excellence in rehabilitation nursing. She began her nursing career after earning her Associate Degree in Nursing from Florida State College at Jacksonville in 2011. As a bedside nurse, she received multiple nominations for the Art of Caring Award and earned the honor in 2018. Golda later completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2022, strengthening her clinical and leadership expertise. Golda’s leadership path included supervisory roles and her position as Assistant Nurse Manager of the Spinal Cord Injury and Pediatric Unit at Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. In December 2024, she earned her Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) credential. She also serves as President of the Northeast Florida Association of Rehabilitation Nurses (NEFSARN), supporting professional development across the region. Golda will complete her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) in Nursing Leadership from Post University and was named the Brooks IRF Nurse Leader DAISY Award recipient for 2025.
