Creating a program of nursing research in your hospital may seem like a daunting responsibility. The requirements for completing nursing research may appear to be roadblocks, especially for facilities without doctorally prepared nurses. However, it is possible to ignite the spark of research in your team. By creating a culture of scholarship and interdisciplinary partnership, a rehabilitation nursing program of any size can produce successful research and develop a sustained program of clinical inquiry.
Learning Objectives
- The learner will identify the steps necessary to take a research question from initial idea to a fully developed protocol, and ultimately to published work.
- The learner will discuss strategies for disseminating research findings with the goal of reaching bedside nurses.
- The learner will recognize common barriers to clinical nurse involvement in research and articulate strategies for overcoming these barriers.
