A high rate of urinary tract infections (UTI) in patients with SCI performing IC was the catalyst for the development of a process for standardizing IC education for nurses and patients. This webinar explores the hypotheses behind the nurse education of intermittent catheterization. 

Learning Objectives

  • Learners will be able to recognize education gaps in patient education within the rehabilitation setting.
  • Learners will be able to employ and implement a standardized education tool for their patient population based on current evidence-based practice and research in order to improve nurse and patient confidence and satisfaction.

Rachel Collins, CRRN - Craig Hospital, Registered Nurse

Rachel Collins BSN, RN, CRRN is a nurse at Craig Hospital in Englewood Colorado. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Regis University, Denver, CO (2018) and has a Bachelor of Science, in Human Development and Family Studies from Colorado State University, Fort Collins, CO (2016). Rachel has been a bedside nurse serving patients with spinal cord injury, brain injury and neurodegenerative disorders since March of 2018. She is a member of the Craig Research Committee that works on improving quality interventions and outcomes at the bedside. She is also a Clinical Scholar working with nursing students in the Denver Metro area to provide clinical experience for students. Rachel is an Affiliate Faculty for Regis University where she teaches nursing skills to nursing students and a school nurse for a high school. Outside of work, Rachel enjoys all mountain activities such as hiking and snowboarding, and spending time with her dogs and husband.

 

 

Crystal Nash, CRRN - Craig Hospital, Registered Nurse

Crystal Nash BSN, RN, CRRN is a nurse at Craig Hospital in Englewood Colorado. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a minor in English, and a certificate in International Studies from Fort Hays State University (2018). Crystal has been a bedside nurse serving patients with spinal cord injury, brain injury, and neurodegenerative illnesses since July of 2018. She is a member of the Craig Research Committee that works on improving quality interventions and outcomes at the bedside. She also is a clinical scholar working with senior capstone nursing students in the metro area, and is the night shift representative for Craig's shared governance committee. Crystal is currently working on her master’s degree in Nursing Administration. Outside of work, Crystal enjoys reading, playing video games, and exploring the Rocky Mountains with her husband and dogs.
