By understanding the normal wound healing process, bedside nurses will be able to identify normal wound healing progression, identify wound deterioration, and escalate care when appropriate. Along with critical thinking, this education will help nurses decrease harm and improve patient outcomes through a didactic presentation.
Learning Objectives
- Identify structures involved in partial thickness and full thickness wounds.
- Review features of major wound types and distinguish between acute and chronic wound healing.
- Describe impediments to wound healing.
- Identify acute and chronic wound healing through case studies.
